B. Chung won his 2nd CIKOGA major at US Open!

The brutal 36-hole single day tournament tested the best Korean golfers from Central Illinois. The narrow fairways guarded by tall tree lines and deep valleys of Scovill was the ultimate test for golfer's accuracy.

B. Chung from Peoria broke his own CIKOGA major single round record (E) during the first round by shooting 2 under par. His course management skill was near perfect. Instead of pulling out drivers, he used TaylorMade SpeedBlade 4 iron on short holes to avoid any trouble. Although he shot 2 over par during the second round, he set another CIKOGA major 36-hole record by shooting even par.

J. Yoo from Springfield captured the 2nd place on his first CIKOGA appearance. He started 5 stroke behind Dr. Chang but made a great comeback during his second round. He was paired with Chung during the final round and he tired his best to match Chung's skill.

Dr. Chang from Peoria, a seasoned veteran who served CDGA board for long time, has been sick for the last couple of months and lost a lot of weight. However, he captured the 3rd place and was only 1 stroke behind Yoo. With his new TaylorMade M2 driver and mighty power, he conquered the field on his 2nd CIKOGA major tournament appearance.

M. Kim from Decatur was the net champion by shooting 12 under par. As a father of St. Teresa high school golfer, his golf enthusiasm shined throughout the tournament because he rarely could play golf on Saturdays due to his busy work schedule for his new business. He broke the CIKOGA major net score record (-10) set by Ko in 2015.

J. Ko made a spectacular finish by making an eagle and defeated defending 2016 US Open Champion H. Yim again like he did at 2017 Masters. Yim made a birdie on the last hole after hitting the fringe with his driver but it was eclipsed by Ko's perfect driver shot that landed within 12 feet and his flawless Eagle putt. Ko finally joined the CIKOGA Major Eagle Club after Yim who recorded an eagle two years ago at the 1st US Open in 2015.

What a great major tournament with amazing new records! We cannot wait to see who will stand out at the next major - The Open in July.
