JK Choi wins the first JK Choi Invitational!

Lee started with a birdie on the 1st hole while others made bogeys. From the 2nd hole, Yim cruised with 4 consecutive pars. He made two bogeys on hole 6 and 7 and then made another two pars on 8 and 9. He shot +3 on the front nine. Choi matched Yim on most holes and shot +7.

Yim started back nine with a par but soon collapsed from par 3 hole 11 by hitting the ball to the wood on the left. He made triple while Choi made a par after perfect chip shot and putt. Yim made double on 12 and another costly triple on par 3 hole 14 by hitting a lost ball into the tall grass area. Lee made another birdie on hole 14 after hitting tee shot within 3 feet.

On the last hole, Yim hit drive too long into the water and Lee hit his 2nd shot into the water. They made double bogeys. On the other hand, although Choi's driver shot went slightly left, Choi did not lose ball and finished strong with bogey. Choi won by 1 stroke over Yim on his first invitational tournament.

Choi used his new Titlelist driver that is similar to Chung's driver. His new Golf Pride grips also made him a solid iron shot player throughout the day. He rarely missed short putts within 3 feet so he never allowed Yim's mistake in back 9. Congratulations Choi!

A special guest from Monticello, Y. Choi also won in women's division by one stroke. She made one birdie and it made her winner on her first CIKOGA appearance. It was Choi's day.

After the round, all players went to O'Charlie's and 5 members contributed $30 for dinner. The actual bill was $89.00 with $11.00 tip. The remaining $50 was donated to CIKOGA.

GolfWeek amateur tournament was also held on the same day. Here's the result.
